Hey there! I'm a bit late to the party but today is Book Lovers Day so I thought I'd share my review of Broken Branches with you! I was supposed to write this up last month but my time management is at an all time low right now so I hope you'll forgive me! Better late then never right?!

Broken Branches had a real emotional effect on me and to be quite honest, I couldn't find the right words to start off this review because of it. I read the book in the space of two days because I couldn't put it down. With every page I turned, I got more hooked and as much as I didn't want the story to end, I couldn't wait to find out what happens.

The story alternates between modern day in which Ian searches for answers and Ian's childhood. I didn't find it confusing and the alternation between past and present made for nice character development. Every character in the book plays a meaningful part to the story but all the spotlight is of course on Ian. I have to say I really enjoyed getting to know his character and in a way I even connected with him as I have an obsessive personality as well.

Broken Branches is a book I will not forget easily. I read psychological thrillers regularly but the way the author incorporated different elements of mental health - suicide, grief and obsession has really made this book stand out for me.

I had some suspicion as to what could happen in the end but honestly I was pleasantly surprised! The story was wrapped up really nicely for me. The author's style of writing and storytelling is fantastic and there's nothing negative I could say about this book!

Without any hesitation, I decided to give Broken Branches a rating of 5 stars. I have to say I've never read a book like this before, I've been recommending it to my family and friends and hopefully I'll persuade some of you enough to buy it 😉 I'm looking forward to reading M. Jonathan Lee's other books as I'm sure they'll be as good as this one!
