Must-See TV Shows For 2017

Friday, January 13, 2017

I'm back! And I'm excited to share with you guys the must-see TV shows for 2017!

1. How To Get Away With Murder

What do I even say about this show? If you haven't seen it already then you're missing out! This is one of my favourite shows; it will make you sad, angry confused and happy (sometimes at the same time). To find out more about How To Get Away With Murder you can read my review.

The second part of season 3 will air on 26th January. It airs on Freeform in America as part of TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday) which is an evening of programmes produced by Shonda Rhymes. I'm not sure when it's going to air in the UK but what is the internet for 😉

2. Scandal

As Scandal is part of TGIT, it means it's got the same air date as How To Get Away With Murder. Season 6 is coming back with a bang so if you haven't seen any of the previous seasons of Scandal then you better hurry up and catch up on them! Scandal revolves around politics (although not to the point where you hate it) and around people who can't seem to clean up their lives. Olivia Pope - a former White House Communications Director runs her own crisis management company; however her clients are not the only ones with secrets.

3. Mr. Robot

This show messes with your head! It's honestly one of the best shows of the recent years. I have to admit I haven't finished season 2 yet because I feel like I need to really dedicate time as it needs the viewers focus. If you don't like technology then maybe this show is not for you but if you do then do give it a watch! Mr. Robot follows Elliot who works as a cyber-security engineer at a company during the day but as a hacker at night. Elliot suffers from depression and social anxiety; his mental health is quite vital to the story. You can watch Mr. Robot on Amazon Prime Video or if you're from the UK then I think you can also watch it on Universal Channel.

4. Prison Break

Prison Break has been absent from our screens for 8 years but this year it will be back! An official air date has been announced yesterday and we'll be blessed to see it on 4th April! I have to admit that my friend actually introduced me to this prison drama last year. I can't believe I've never watched it before because I fell in love with it instantly. I managed to binge-watch it in the space of a few weeks. As the title suggests, the show is about breaking out of prison. I highly recommend you try to watch it from the very beginning before season 5 airs because then you'll get the chance to know the characters and their background.

5. Big Little Lies

This is an HBO limited mini-series and the first episode will premieres on 19th February. I just looked at the cast list and oh my it's got some of the best actresses and actors! It's classed as a 'comedy-drama' and I didn't really get a comedy vibe from the trailer, but to be honest I'm happy about that because I'm not a big fan of comedies. Have a look at the trailer here and let me know what you think! I'm quite sad that it's only going to be a mini-series (7 episodes) because it looks like it's going to be a great show.

6. Broadchurch

So far I've only mentioned American TV shows but British crime drama is right up there with Nordic Noir so how could I not mention it? Broadchurch is an amazing show because it focuses on how the tragedy affected the people of Broadchurch. David Tennant and Olivia Coleman are a perfectly matched acting duo and their connection on screen is what makes the show so brilliant. Two seasons of Broadchurch have already aired and a third season is coming sometime in February so keep on checking the ITV website for the air date!

Are you going to watch any of these TV shows?
What are you excited to watch in 2017?
