Hey guys! I have to say I've actually been enjoying writing these non-update posts although I've got one post half-written for next week so stay tuned for that ;)

Soo you know how I love TV shows and I watch TV a lot? Well I decided to create a segment called 'TV Obsessions' and I can promise you that it won't be disappointing! Today I decided to share with you guys my 6 favourite British TV shows for older teens. You might've heard of them before or even watched them but if not then do make sure to check them out. Don't forget to leave a comment below and let me know how you liked this post!

Skins

One of the most know British teen shows; set in Bristol, Skins follows the lives of a group of teenagers who attend the same sixth form. It's a bit hard for me to summarise the show because a lot happens throughout the seven seasons. The show is basically made up of quite a lot of controversial storylines which touch upon issues such as substance abuse, death, mental illness and dealing with your sexuality. I honestly think this is one of the best British TV shows that I have ever watched; I'd happily re-watch all of it even more than four times! During the first six seasons, the show is split into generations, I have to say my favourite were 'Generation 2' because oh my, Jack O'Connell is such an amazing and professional actor and Kaya Scodelario is just a beauty but all the other actors weren't all that bad either ;) The seventh season was a little bit different because it was split into three parts (two episodes per part) and it featured several characters, from the first two generations, return. Honestly guys, you have to watch it! Please at least check out the first few episodes to see if you like it because it's such a brilliant show! You can watch it online here or you can buy the DVD.

My Mad Fat Diary

This TV show is set in mid-1990's which makes it quite different from all the other teen shows however it still seems really modern. The show is a story of a 16 year old girl who has just left the psychiatric hospital where she's been for four months. She's been dealing with mental health and body image problems and her friends were unaware of it for a long time. On top of that she has to deal with other drama in her life such as her mum's love life and her boyfriend. I wish I could say that there's nothing I dislike about this show but even though it portrays mental health accurately and is very honest, I still find it quite unrealistic that the hottest guy in college would go out with a girl that has mental problems and is obese. I understand that it might've been possible at the time that the show was set but in today's society people are too shallow and just judge too much for me to find it realistic. The show has sadly come to an end a few weeks ago and it's a shame because I would've loved to watch more of it. What are you waiting for?! You can watch it online here or buy the DVD.

Glue

First aired in October 2014, Glue has been labeled as 'the whodunnit that will blow your mind'. The story revolves around a group of friends of a 14 year old boy who has been found dead. The murder mystery is set in the English countryside and it's something different from the usual teen shows that are set in the city. I have to say that I don't really understand why this show is called 'Glue'; maybe something to do with the friendships or the clues that slowly stick together? Nevertheless it's one of my favourite Brtish TV shows because you will not expect the things that happen. I have quite high standards and oh boy did this TV show meet them! Season 1 finished quite some time ago so it's not currently being aired on TV but you can watch it on here or you can just buy the DVD. I think season 2 is supposed to be aired sometime in Autumn but I read that on a website I've never visited before so I'm not sure the information is reliable. I'll be here patiently waiting.

Misfits

When I first watched Misfits, I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant as I'm really not into science-fiction and comedy but I was pleasantly surprised. The story is about a group of young offenders who have been sentenced to work on a community program together, however all is not it seems when after a strange electrical storm, they gain superpowers. The show is made up of five seasons which makes it quite hard for me to sum it up as a lot of different (and weird) things happen throughout them but it's certainly worth a watch even if you think you won't like it. All I'll say is that with every episode it gets better and better. There were talks of there being a potential Misfits film but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be happening which is a real shame because I think it'd be a success. You can watch Misfits online on here or you can buy the DVD.

Youngers

I knew instantly that I'd love this show! It's set in London, it includes an original soundtrack and it features Mandem On The Wall (a Youtube act and Brit School graduates). The show is made up of (so far) two seasons and it's about two guys who make music together and are joined on their music journey by a girl they've just met who aspires to be a singer. Don't think that this show is only about the music though; it's a teen drama so it features things such as romantic relationships and family issues. I think this show is underrated but I know it may not suit some people's television taste as I feel like the target audience is quite limited to only teens and people who use vocabulary such as 'mandem' or at least understand it. I'd recommend giving this show a go and you never know, you might actually like it ;) You can watch it online here or you can buy the DVD.

Some Girls

The show focuses on four, 16 year old, best friends who live on the same housing estate and attend the same school. This is yet another show like Youngers that is set in South London. I wish they based something in West London so I'd get to witness it haha. This show managed to make the list, however I have to say that I don't like it as much as the shows I've mentioned above. Like I said before, I'm not really into comedy so I guess that may be the reason I didn't like it as much. The reason it made my list is because I actually did find some of the bits funny and I think it's worth watching because it touches well upon issues such as losing your virginity, dealing with your parents having a new partner, money issues etc. I like how it deals with serious topics in a not so serious way. I watched all three seasons so they must be doing something right, right? ;) You can watch it online here or you can buy the DVD.

Have you guys watched any of these shows or do you think you might check them out?

Lots of Love,
Sylwia
